E-Immunes

The immune system does a wonderful job of protecting us from harm by bacteria, viruses, cancer cells, etc. However, sometimes there may be too much immune activity which can cause problems, such as in auto-immune conditions. If the immune system is active in certain ways it can lead to difficulty in achieving or keeping a pregnancy. This may manifest as infertility, recurrent IVF failure or sometimes recurrent miscarriage.

If your fertility expert deems it suitable, they may request some immunological testing for you that may lead to treatment to calm the immune system and help allow for a pregnancy to implant and develop. This treatment may involve steroid tablets, Intralipids infusions or Immunoglobulin infusions (IVIG).

This is still a new and not fully understood field in medicine that is controversial still and not all reproductive specialists have experience with this.
